New Whitman County Trends Website
by Trends Staff
The new Whitman County Trends website has just launched, with nearly 90 indicators to track areas such as education, housing, public health and safety, and economic vitality. The website, like its counterpart here and for other Washington counties, has been designed to present data readily accessible to people in local communities. Trends sites are used by schools, businesses, non-profit organizations, and government leaders to help communities better understand themselves.
Whitman County Trends is sponsored by the Port of Whitman County and Eastern Washington University and is managed and maintained by the university’s Institute for Public Policy and Economic Analysis. Directed by Dr. Patrick Jones, the Institute uses state and federal data to provide relevant information without bias to support a wide range of communities throughout the state.
The recent launch took place in the county seat of Colfax, where the Port of Whitman had gathered local leaders. Trends sites now serve 10 counties in Washington with projects for three more in work. The Institute is always seeking to provide more of these services to the communities of Washington state. These are all possible due to our team of dedicated students.
